Kermit and Bruce

This is my husband Bruce with our Eclectus parrot, Kermit.  Last night Kermit showed up with blood on his beak which threw the household into a panic.  We never did find the source of the blood and he seems to be  in fine health eating and demanding attention as always.  He must have picked off a feather that bled, but it was pretty scarey.  Having a bird in the house is very much like having a toddler, but we love him dearly.

One rainless day

We had a beautiful day in the mountains today. One day without rain and a little sunshine. Heavenly!!

Winter is here for sure. The lake is frozen for the first time since we've lived here and there is snow on the ground BRRR!

Wednesday morning

The election is over and now hopefully we can start rebuilding this country. No more political ads or speeches to listen to, what a relief. I am proud of us for having the courage to elect Obama, and I am also proud of John Mc Cain for his gracious acceptance of his loss.

It's fall in North Carolina

Just went for a walk around our lake. The fall foliage is unbelievable and the air is crisp and cool. This is really a wonderful time of year

I just found this great shop on etsy. It's called ficklefaerie, what a neat name. The thing that got me is the wonderful net produce bags. I was at Earth Fare the other day buying lots of produce and had a whole lot of plastic bags which I hate.
