Wednesday morning

The election is over and now hopefully we can start rebuilding this country. No more political ads or speeches to listen to, what a relief. I am proud of us for having the courage to elect Obama, and I am also proud of John Mc Cain for his gracious acceptance of his loss.

Great Find On Etsy

I just found this great shop on etsy. It's called ficklefaerie, what a neat name. The thing that got me is the wonderful net produce bags. I was at Earth Fare the other day buying lots of produce and had a whole lot of plastic bags which I hate. The checkout person and I were wondering what we could substitute for those nasty bags and then along comes ficklefaerie and her wonderful net bags. Check out her site at:

Crazy Dog and Weather

It seems that this cool fall weather makes my dog a little crazy. It doesn't take much to make her that way since she's still a puppy at a year old, and a boxer mix to boot. Here are some pics of her. Her name is Luna and she's a sweetheart.

This is her when we first got her at 4 months old.

No longer a little dog, weighing in at close to 60 lbs. she's grown a lot. Here is a more recent pic in her favorite chair. What is it they say about position being the most important thing in life? Well she loves relaxing this way.

Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands

Took a little ride to Asheville yesterday to go to the craft fair at the Civic Center. It was awesome. So much talent in these Blue Ridge mountains. I saw a mind boggling array of beautiful handmade things. Ran into someone I used to email a few years ago Jeanne Rhodes-Moen - she has some really beautiful jewelry to sell and a great book on making silver filigree jewelry. One of the really talented!! Check out her website http://www.jeannius.com/websys/homepage.php

It looked like the economy was hurting the artists, people didn't seem to be buying much. Hope they are doing better today.

Came home very inspired to make some more jewelry - time to get to work!!

Jumping Into The Blog World

Well, I have finally decided that it was time for me to blog. Not knowing what I'm doing I guess I'll just follow my nose, or fingers, as the case may be. So here goes.

Fall has arrived here in the mountains and the leaves are just starting to show their colors. It really is a beautiful time of year, just too bad that winter follows so closely.

Last week we went to the Biltmore Estate with some friends and rented Segways. What a blast! I thought that it would be hard, but it didn't take much time at all before we were zipping around confidently through the beautiful landscape of the Biltmore Estate. I only got tangled up in my Segway once and didn't break anything - bones or equipment. The Estate is a definite "must see" for visitors to this area. A little pricey, but worth it.
